2. Buckinghamshire's Young Artist Award:

The BAS Young Artist Award contest takes place each autumn in connection with the BAS autumn exhibition. In 2007 the entries represented, as always, a tremendous variety of media, ranging from sculpture, textiles, to abstract and traditional painting in oils and acrylics. The committee eventually decided on the 3 finalists and awarded a number of Highly Commended certificates as follows:

1st place: Mariya Takeuchi form Stantonbury Campus, Milton Keynes,with her painting "Abstract Nude" (1st prize of £100)

2nd place: Chloe Giordano from The Grange School, Aylesbury, with her oil painting "Two Hands" ( 2nd prize of £50)

3rd place: Matt Box from The Misbourne School, Great Missenden, with his collage "Paper Planes" (3rd prize of £25)

Highly Commended certificates were awarded to : Asha Jawed ,& Lucy Bignall (Sir William Ramsay School), William Rugless & Alix Tonelli St Ange (Misbourne School) and Isadora Darke & Olivia Weltz (Stantonbury Campus)

All these works, plus images of all the entrieswere on display at the BAS Autumn Exhibition in the County Museum, Aylesbury, in November 2007.

Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to all the schools and students who took part!

Prizes for the Young Artist Award 2005 were as follows:

1st prize: a cash prize of £100, a certificate naming the 1st prizewinner & their school, a picture frame from Oberon Art to suit the artwork (if applicable) and their artwork hung at the BAS annual Autumn Exhibition .

2nd prize: a cash prize of £25, a certificate naming the 2nd prizewinner & their school and their artwork hung at the BAS annual Autumn Exhibition.

3rd prize: a certificate naming the 3rd prizewinner & their school and their artwork hung at the BAS annual Autumn Exhibition.

All entrants received a certificate of entry into the competition.

The winners of Buckinghamshire's Young Artist Award 2005 were:

1st prize: Holly Hutchings, Stantonbury Campus, Milton Keynes, aged 16yrs

Runners-up: Kylie Tam, Sir William Ramsay, Hazlemere, aged 18yrs and M. Hunter, Wycombe Abbey, aged 17yrs

Highly Commended certificates issued to: Max Harger, John Hampden Grammar School, High Wycombe, aged 18yrs , Salma Begum, Leon School, Bletchley, aged 17yrs and Jocelyn Wheeler, Slated Row School, Milton Keynes, aged 18yrs

IThe winners of The Young Artist Award 2004:

Winner: Stella Curran, Sir William Ramsay School, Hazlemere.

Runner up: Kelly Kay, Chalfonts community College.
